mrs jones, i'm sure that pretty much each and every topic has been posted about since this board exists. and don't call someone with few posts a newbie, some simply forgot their login information after many years.

i don't know this person, but a mutual aquaintence who knows i was a jw told me.

What does a demon or an evil spirit look like?
by foolsparadise inno they havent..because they dont exsist.
who needs demons to do bad things on the earth when we have people doing horrible things to each other since the beginning of time.
demons are just an easy way to pass of the blame...pretty easy to do since no one has ever seen one.. its like telling people there are evil invisible tooth faries lurking around every corner.

boy, was i afraid of demons when i was a kid! it put fear of the dark on a whole new level...
until i asked myself why the hell a demon would posess some old books or furniture instead of materializing, enjoying a few beers and having fun with the chicks.

depends on how old the embryo is. no biggie if it's just a few cells. i don't understand why one's belief should matter.

Elder said people "rarely" die from refusing a blood transfusion
by InterestedOne ini sat in on the "know your options" reading tonight, and the elder said a couple things i was wondering about:.
1. he said if a doctor says you have a high risk of dying if you refuse a blood transfusion, he is misleading you.
he said people "rarely" die from refusing a blood transfusion.

a long time JW friend of mine told me the other day that "even doctors wouldn't want blood transfusions".
i responded that absolutely noone would WANT a blood transfusion. it's not something you do for fun. and doctors wouldn't give you blood just for fun either.

God Seemed to Write This For Those Disfewllowshipped but Love Him
by Perry inif you ever felt that you really did love god, but no matter what you did, ended up on the outs with your family and with the watchtower anyway..... these words have comforted me.. .
66. thus saith the lord, the heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me?
and where is the place of my rest?

Can j.w.'s go to Christian funerals?
by hubert ini went to a catholic funeral yesterday.
there was no wake, only a mass and the burial and military honors at the cemetery.
although it was not a relative, my j.w.

i've been to several catholic funerals (all family though, i don't know if that makes a difference), including the mass and "after party". i always attended with most of my JW family. no holy water, jesus cookies or donations for us though, of course.

Did you blame things on the devil?
by highdose init was normal in my cong for people to blame bad things in their lives on the devil, things like the car breaking down, people at work giving you hassle, householders not wanting the mags etc etc.
did no one ever think how stupid and werid this sounded??
?.

many did and still do. i never did, never made sense to me. everything bad that happend seemed perfectly human to me...
edit: after having all my prayers answered with silence, i tried selling my soul to the devil in exchange for being a rock star, didn't work out though.

WT to release tablet computer at next convention?
by moshe inthey could make a lot of money with this business model.
by selling their own dedicated hardware, new e-books wt literature, selling profitable internet service through their own "safe" proxy servers that screen out all dangerous material, and the jws can show catchy pre-loaded wt sales videos to householders at the door or in their studies.. i wonder if they can get a chinese knockoff tablet computer, like the hapiad, down to $99 and still make a big profit?
it comes with wifi - and is preloaded with the wt cd , some videos and other wt junk.. how much could they sell wt approved internet for?- going through their wt proxy screening server to keep us out.. books at conventions- they will have an e-reader version of books for sale immediately- those who want print versions will have to wait- and pay more.. they can bring their wt haipad to the meetings and read the wt lesson on it, don't even have to print them out.. this could have downsides, too - like when the kids figure out how to jail break them in order to watch what they want.. i could be wrong, but i think they could sellout a limit of 1000 $99 tablet computers in one hour after they are released- they would have to have mob control to keep order at the counter.

they'd never support android or any other free system.
all their software is windows only, i think they even have a port for windows mobile (not sure if that ones official though).

What prayers does God answer?
by jwfacts ini have always struggled to understand what prayers god answers and which ones he avoids.
most religions teach that god answers prayers, so people must feel that their prayers are being answered, yet the type of prayers seem to be very selective.. .
if god answered broad based prayers, then children in third world countries would not be starving, so he does not seem to interfere in global issues.

Why won't god heal amputees: http://whywontgodhealamputees.com/
prayers are pretty much like homeopathy. some swear it helps, but it wouldn't really make any difference.
